What is Prayer?

Prayer is simply communicating with God, listening and talking to Him. Believers can pray from the heart, freely, spontaneously, and in their own words. Pray by yourself or in groups. God hears all your prayers.

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
But you, WHEN YOU PRAY, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And WHEN YOU PRAY, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Matthew 6:5 -7
How to ...
Prayer?
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:8-15

Praying For People & Authority
We pray for those in positions of authority like government leaders, community officials, employers, and spiritual leaders. We ask God to grant them wisdom, integrity and peace as they serve. Additionally, we pray for communities, families and those who are wounded or far from God.
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayer, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people - for kings and all those in authority that we may live peacefully and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
1 Timothy 2:2
Upward
We pray for with reverence, gratitude and dependence, asking God to shape our hearts, guide our steps and draw us closer to him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Strengthening the Body of Christ
We pray for spiritual maturity, unity, healing and growth within the church, that we may walk in the fullness of Christ.
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God

Ask, Seek, Knock
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8
The Heart Behind Our Prayers
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
James 4:1-3
